Q-connect is the brand new online recruiting system developed by the career development office and open to all CMUQ students.

Students who have been to Pittsburgh would be familiar with the TartanTrak online recruiting system. Similarly, Qatar campus built its new online recruiting system based on TartanTrak. While TartanTrak is open to all CMU students, it’s more focused on U.S jobs and internships. On the other hand, Q-Connect is targeted toward CMUQ students and provides them with more relevant jobs and internship opportunities.

But Q-connect doesn’t stop in providing jobs and internship opportunities to students. In fact, the platform has a resume builder, career explorer and a several others options that help the students learn more about career opportunities and interests. Also, the Career explorer provides an extensive list of potential career guides. The guides include information on career average salaries and its future potential of growth, it has also sections on the type of tasks performed in the jobs and some of the skills required to perform the job. A section discusses some of the drawbacks that might come with the job.

Q-connect features guides that help students develop job search strategies and ace their interviews as well as networking tips. Some of the guide we found interesting include “Break into Banking”, “How to land a consulting job” and “Making your social network work for your job search”.

The website has even a database of CMU alumnus who volunteered to offer their help and advices to students. An important note on the Q-connect system concerns the networking opportunities it offers. Q-connect is linked to TartanTrak database of alumni who volunteered to offer their advice and help to students or fresh and junior management level graduates. Many share their Linkedin accounts making it even easier for students to connect with them and why not secure a job or an internship in their firms.

This Week, the Career Development Office held several Q-connect sessions. The students who attended the sessions registered in Q-Connect system, set up their profiles and went over the different features the website offers. Every student is in fact encouraged to attend those sessions and can talk to Jeff Davis or Amy Walker for more information.

So what are you waiting for, get your hands wet and start using Q-Connect to its full potential.
